About MEA Internship Program 2024

Ministry of External Affairs is launching the second edition of the MEA Internships Programme for the year 2023-24. This program offers a unique opportunity for eligible candidates to gain valuable experience in foreign policy formulation and implementation. The MEA Internship 2024 is designed to enhance diversity, promote gender inclusivity, and offer a rich learning environment.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the MEA Internship Program 2024, candidates must:

  • Be Indian citizens
  • A graduate degree from a recognized university or be in the final year of graduation where an internship is mandatory.
  • Be 25 years of age or younger as of December 31, 2024.

MEA Internship Intake and Duration

Term I: April to September

Term II: October to March

Duration: 1 to 3 months

Interns per Term: Maximum of 30

Selection Procedure

The MEA Internship 2024 selection process is fully online. The process includes:

  • Preliminary Screening: Based on academic performance.
  • Personal Interview: Conducted via videoconferencing for shortlisted candidates.

Intern Responsibilities

Selected interns will work on specific assignments related to foreign policy and other critical functions of the MEA. Interns will conduct research, write reports, and contribute to the Ministry’s ongoing projects. Confidentiality is paramount, and all work remains the intellectual property of the MEA.

Termination & Obligations

Interns must undergo necessary security clearances. The MEA reserves the right to terminate the internship at any time. Interns can also terminate their internship with a one-week notice.

Coverage for Term II: Eligible States & UTs

The states and Union Territories whose applicants are eligible for MEA Internship 2024 Term II programs are

States– Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal

Union Territories– Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Puducherry

Stipend & Benefits

Stipend: ₹10,000 per month

Travel Reimbursement: One-time economy class air travel between the State capital and Delhi.
