Job Description
SAFA is seeking a Life Skills Coach – Female to join our team in Hyderabad, specifically in Darulshifa, Malakpet. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in supporting adolescent girls and boys to continue their education beyond the 10th class and establish clubs in schools to address key issues such as eve teasing, sexual abuse, drug use, and digital literacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Government schools and educational authorities to identify and engage adolescent girls and boys who are at risk of discontinuing their studies after the 10th class.
- Develop and implement strategies to encourage and support these adolescents in continuing their education, including providing academic guidance, counselling, and mentorship.
- Establish clubs within schools focused on addressing issues such as eve teasing, sexual abuse, drug use, internal conflicts, legal literacy, and digital literacy.
- Recruit and train students to become active members of these clubs, equipping them with knowledge, skills, and resources to effectively address and prevent these issues.
- Organize regular club meetings, workshops, and awareness campaigns to raise awareness about eve teasing, sexual abuse, drug use, internal conflicts, legal rights,
and digital literacy among students and the wider school community. - Provide individual counseling and support services to students who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing eve teasing, sexual abuse, or drug abuse.
- Conduct sessions on legal literacy to educate students about their rights, responsibilities, and legal resources available to address issues such as harassment,
abuse, and discrimination. - Collaborate with teachers, school administrators, parents, and community stakeholders to create a safe and supportive environment for adolescent students.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of club activities and interventions, collecting data and feedback to inform future programming and improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of club membership, activities, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Provide training sessions on digital literacy, including basic computer skills, internet safety, online communication, and responsible use of technology, to both students and educators.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Previous experience working with adolescents, preferably in the areas of education, counselling, or youth development.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development, behaviours, and psychosocial issues.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Sensitivity to cultural and gender diversity, with a commitment to promoting gender equality and social inclusion.
- Proficiency in Hindi language and English is highly desirable.
- Willingness to travel within the designated area and work flexible hours as needed.
