ESAF Foundation is seeking candidates for the role of District Coordinators to lead its Urban Initiative Advocacy Project in Ernakulam and Trivandrum districts.

Evangelical Social Action Forum (ESAF) was formed as a response to the widening partiality of prosperity in society. We partner with government agencies, community bodies, NGOs and corporates to deliver lasting change to the poor and the marginalised, especially women and children.
Driven by the vision for a just and fair society, our interventions are based on a social business model focusing on creating livelihood opportunities for the underprivileged. One of the pioneers in forming women self-help groups, ESAF has more than 3.3 million SHG members who are agents of social transformation in their communities.
About the Project
The District Coordinator will implement the Livable Cities India project, focusing on improving accessibility in streets, public spaces, and markets through research and policy advocacy. Key objectives include:
- Promoting safer, barrier-free pedestrian infrastructure for all.
- Establishing car-free streets to reduce emissions and enhance public life.
- Developing inclusive, accessible public spaces, especially for persons with disabilities
Responsibilities
- Lead advocacy initiatives with Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), government departments, and civil society organizations (CSOs)
- Coordinate and monitor urban development and CSR projects implemented by ESAF Foundation
- Conduct field research, prepare detailed reports, and manage financial documentation
- Ensure effective communication in both English and Malayalam – spoken and written
Eligibility
- Qualification: Master of Social Work (MSW) / or related fields
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in the social development sector
- Location Preference: Natives or residents of Ernakulam, Trivandrum, or nearby districts
- Mobility: Willingness to travel within project locations as needed
Skills & Competencies Required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – mandatory
- Strong advocacy and networking skills
- Experience in project coordination, monitoring, and evaluation (M&E)
- Basic knowledge of urban planning, urban development policies, and city governance frameworks
- Proficient in report writing, research, and analytical thinking
