Acres of Ice is inviting applications from embedded engineers to become a part of its Mountain Technology Fellowship 2024. The selected Mountain Technology Fellow will be a part of a dedicated team in R&D hub in Leh, Ladakh.
About the Fellowship
At Acres of Ice, we develop innovative climate-resilient technologies that transform how mountain communities manage their water resources. Our fellowship program connects talented embedded engineers with communities to create automated ice reservoirs, glacial covers, snow
harvesting, and smart irrigation systems that directly impact vulnerable mountain ecosystems.
About the Opportunity
Acres of Ice is seeking embedded engineers to join its core team. The selected Mountain Technology Fellow will work directly with the Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Suryanarayanan. Your work will directly shape the development of technology solutions that power climate-resilient infrastructure in mountain regions.
Fellowship Duration– 12 month
Your Impact
- Design and implement embedded solutions for environmental monitoring and resource management
- Lead the technical vision for our sensor networks and automated control systems
- Mentor and guide junior engineers while building a culture of technical excellence
- Work directly with local communities to ensure our solutions meet real-world needs
Eligibility
- Must be eligible to work and reside in India for the entire fellowship duration
- Care deeply about climate resilience and mountain ecosystems
- Have at least one year of relevant technical experience
- Work well in collaborative environments
- Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Are eager to learn about water management and climate science
Technical Foundation
- Strong understanding of embedded systems and real-time programming concepts
- Experience with resource-constrained system development
- Proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming
Relevant Project Experience
We value experience in any of the following areas:
- Environmental monitoring systems
- Sensor networks and data acquisition
- Control systems for automated hardware
- IoT devices in challenging environments
- Real-time systems using any RTOS platform (FreeRTOS experience is a plus)
Support Package
- Monthly fellowship stipend of INR 25,000
- Full accommodation and lodging during on-site stays

- 21 days of personal leave plus national holidays
