Aga Khan Rural Support Programme Hiring for Program Specialist

Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India) is looking to hire for the role Program Specialist. The program is all about a non-denominational, non-government development organization. It works as a catalyst for the betterment of rural communities by providing direct support to local communities. AKRSP (I) is active in over 2400 villages of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. It has influenced lives of more than 1.5 million people from marginalized sections of society. Over 80% of the households impacted by AKRSP(I)’s work belong to marginalized communities like tribals, dalits, and minorities. Over 60% of beneficiaries are women who form a core group for program interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing effective relation with the Panchayati Raj Department at State/District level.
  • Facilitating State level ToT for roles and responsibilities in long term operation and maintenance of piped water supply schemes.
  • Capacity building of PRI members and VWSCs about successfully implementation of operation and maintenance.
  • Providing training of government officials using standard modules.
  • Facilitating exposure visit of government officials and support agencies to the existing community managed drinking water schemes.
  • Providing technical inputs in preparing village action plans, preparing plans and estimates of water supply schemes, preparing training modules and imparting trainings to community, members of VWSCs, pump operators on the concept of sustainable operation and management of water supply shcemes.

Requirements

Education:

  • Graduation-civil engineering
  • PG/ diploma in Rural Management/ Master’s in social work (MSW)/ Environment Science in multi dimensional background

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in the development sector in implementing community owned/managed drinking water schemes at ground level

Skills and Competencies:

  • Institution building
  • Programmatic reporting and establishing the monitoring system for effective tracking of program
  • Knowledge of technical design of water supply schemes is essential
  • Experience in implementing/facilitating community managed drinking water supply schemes.
