Asia Society is seeking candidate for the role of Programme Officer- Arts & Culture to be a part of its organization in Mumbai.

It is a global network of 16 centres across the world who share a common vision and actively collaborate to foster insight, encourage engagement, elevate regional voices, informing and educating new audiences through its work. 

Responsibilities

The candidate must work with the programming team to:

  • Research, curate and execute timely and relevant cultural programmes and pedagogical initiatives that are strategically aligned with Asia Society’s broader institutional goals.
  • Write concept notes, proposals, project summaries and programme descriptions, as well as write copy for all arts-related communications.
  • Support operations and administration to execute programmes successfully. This includes identifying venues, managing vendors, and coordinating with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop a strong network of relationships with the arts community in South Asia and identify long-term strategies to build programming collaborations that maximise engagement and impact.
  • Help identify a relevant list of potential thought-leaders and stakeholders to support Asia Society’s programming in arts & culture across South Asia.
  • Communicate and network with relevant people and institutions, and interface with prospective partners, if required.
  • Help strategise and execute an outreach and marketing plan for all programmes, and help maintain and update the Centre’s web presence.

Requirements

The applicant must possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the arts or humanities; Masters degree in art history, visual culture, South Asian studies or arts management is desirable; demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of the arts including contemporary art, art history, crafts, and performance is a must
  • Minimum two years professional work experience in project management, programme development, arts administration or communications in an arts organization;
  • Excellent research, organizational, and communications skills in English (written and oral);
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative, but also function as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented administrative capabilities, and the ability to undertake diverse tasks and work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Proficiency in basic graphic design: on Photoshop/InDesign and Canva
  • Flexibility regarding schedule is a must as many programs are in the evenings or on weekends
