Choice for Youth & Sexuality hiring Advocacy and Communication Intern: Apply before 14 April 2024

CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality is a Youth-Led Organization is seeking an enthusiasticAdvocacy and Communication intern to support the CHOICE’s Advocacy and Communications work.

Our mission is to support and strengthen the work of bold youth advocates across the world. Considering young people in all their diversity, we strive to imbed diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) more actively in our organization and work.

Roles and Responsibilities of Intern

Tasks that will be part of the intern’s assignment may include, but are not limited to:

  • Create online content for CHOICE’s communications channels on topics surrounding SRHR and Youth
  • Support in programmatic communications activities, such as co-creating online SRHR campaigns with our partners
  • Source and connect with other organizations/activists to boost CHOICE’s communication efforts
  • Support our Advocacy team in engaging with the Human Rights Council and provide support organizing an advocacy event, such as logistical support, brainstorming how to hold the event in a youth-friendly way, arranging speakers etc.
  • Support our Advocacy team in other advocacy related tasks on a needs basis, such as writing reports for UN experts on SRHR and youth related topics.
  • Please note that the intern does not carry the full responsibility of all these tasks. The Advocacy team works together with shared responsibilities and tasks.

Profile and Requirements

Must have knowledge & experience

  • You have a background or interest in social/development issues, communications, event planning or design
  • You are interested in and have some understanding of international development, different cultures, human rights, gender, feminism, LGBTI+, and intersectionality
  • You have experience with or are interested in communications

Must have skills and competencies

  • You are enthusiastic and passionate about working on SRHR and with young people
  • You work independently and are able to take initiative
  • You can work together with people from different (cultural) backgrounds
  • You are well organized, and you have good communication skills
  • You have an inclusive work ethic
  • You have working proficiency of English

Nice to have

  • You have previous experience with advocacy
  • You are reflective on your work and actions
  • You are flexible and solution oriented
  • You have additional language skills, such as Dutch or French (languages we often work with)
  • You have experience and/or knowledge of social media management and content creation

  • Internship allowance: €450 per month
  • Transport costs to be reimbursed

  • Expected Hours and Period- 28 hour per week, 6 months
  • Start Date- 1st June 2024
  • End Date- 30 November 2024

Stipend

The stipend of advocacy and communications intern will be €450 per month

This internship will be guided by Advocacy and Communications Coordinator, Poppy Stanbury. We intend to hold interviews during the last week of April, with the intended start date of 1st June 2024.
