IIT Madras is inviting applications for the temporary post of Research Assistant or Associate for the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.
About the Position
We are seeking one highly motivated Research Assistant or Associate (based on qualification and experience mentioned in the table, the designation and salary will be decided) to fill a short-term position to contribute to our project titled Enhancing Livelihoods and Safety of Fishing Communities in the Bay of Bengal while ensuring Sustainable Implementation, funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) under the Special Call on Vision Viksit Bharat@2047. The project will involve identifying existing technologies that can improve the livelihoods of the marine fishing community in Tamil Nadu, and the motivators to adopt them.

Position- Research Assistant
Qualification and Experience
- Ph.D./M.Phil/Postgraduate in Economics or related discipline with a minimum of 55% marks.
- Additional requirements: The ability to speak Tamil will be advantageous, and the candidate needs to have good writing skills.
Salary– Rs. 37,000 PM
Position- Research Associate
Qualification and Experience
- Postgraduate in Economics or related discipline with minimum 55% with NET /M.Phil./ Ph.D. and 2 years of research experience.
- Additional requirements: The ability to speak Tamil will be advantageous, and the candidate needs to have good writing skills
Salary– Rs. 47,000 PM
Duration– 9 Months
Roles and Responsibilities
- Doing literature review
- Preparation of questionnaires
- Assisting in field survey and organization of academic confrence
- Doing Quantitative/econometric analysis
- Preparation of the report/manuscript
