About ISD
Indian School of Democracy (ISD) runs short and long programs through which we envision nurturing leaders who will be the epitome of principled leadership, and will serve the nation with a goal to reach the unreached. ISD will nurture young people for political space and create pathways for them to serve through politics after our programs.
Alumni Manager Role
ISD conducts three flagship programs: The Good Politician, Democracy Express and She Represents. The gestation period in politics is long and one of our commitments is to provide 5-10 years of support to all our alumni, as they shape their political journeys.
As Alumni Manager, your role is to ensure that they have regular touchpoints with ISD, have spaces for peer support and collaboration and most importantly, ISD can help them in finding opportunities to strengthen their political work. Our alumni team also provides need based skill and learning spaces for their continued growth and development. We see our participants as political entrepreneurs and our role as an organization is to support them in new and evolving ways years after they have finished the program and in response to the larger political landscape they work in. As our alumni numbers grow, we are setting up the Alumni vertical and this person will also be contributing towards the larger strategy and building this vertical along with the lead.
Key Responsibilities
Partnerships & Ecosystem
● Build short and long term partnerships with political parties – local, regional, national
● Scope out progression of partnerships with relevant players in the field
● Map out a strategy of engaging with Independents and influential role models, who our alumni can work with
● Create multiple engagement opportunities for ISD programs and participants
● Maintain a national database of political opportunities and connect with alumni
● Gather inputs and programmatic feedback from the field and contribute to overall org design
Facilitation and Mentorship
● Hold sessions and facilitation alumni spaces for skill, leadership and professional
development – virtual and physical
● Help & support alumni design their election campaigns
● Shadow field work of alumni to give them in the moment coaching & mentorship
● Develop a feedback system to gauge needs of wider alumni community
Qualification and Skills
● Masters’ degree in a relevant field
● 4-6 years of full-time professional experience
● At least 2 years of experience in building and strengthening groups and communities
● Election strategy and campaign experience is a must
● Proficiency in database management and creation
● Political knowledge and interest in democratic processes strongly preferred
● Experience in small group and large group facilitation
● Strong communication skills in English & Hindi, one more Indian language will be an added benefit
● Attention to detail, process orientation and committed to rigour in all aspects of work
● Entrepreneurial, resourceful with the ability to deal with uncertainty
● Ability to receive feedback and have an orientation towards self growth
● Ability to work with people from across the political spectrum with objectivity
Salary
The salary of Alumni Manager at Indian School of Democracy will range between 6 to 8 lakhs per annum.
