About Asia Pacific Foundation
The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) is an independent not-for-profit organization dedicated to strengthening Canada’s relations with Asia. We are pleased to launch our new Indo-Pacific Young Leaders Program- an initiative to deepen Canadian engagement with the Indo-Pacific through the exchange of ideas, experiences, and collaboration with key Canadian stakeholders.
About the Program
The Indo-Pacific Young Leaders Program is an important part of APF Canada’s broader effort to strengthen Canada’s engagement, relevance, and networks in the region, with funding support provided by the Government of Canada. The program is aimed specifically at fostering connections with the next generation of leaders in the Indo-Pacific region by providing them with the opportunity to:
- Engage in a one-week familiarization visit to Canada; participants will meet with government officials, industry leaders, and experts to learn about Canada’s engagement with the Indo-Pacific and discuss topics such as regional security, innovation, emerging technology, space, energy security, sustainable development, and other issues.
- Participate (on a case-by-case basis) in APF Canada events held in the Indo-Pacific region, such as the Canada in Asia Conference in Singapore or similar events.
- Attend virtual monthly briefings on topics relevant to Canada and its engagement with the Indo-Pacific, including those identified in Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy.
Duration and Commitment
This program will last approximately one year, with participants expected to commit to monthly virtual sessions (approximately one hour each) and a one-week learning tour of Canada (summer 2025, dates TBC). There may be additional opportunities to participate in other APF-Canada-related regional events on a case-by-case basis. The trip to Canada and participation in these other events will be funded.
