The Government of Meghalaya is inviting applications from candidates for its Legislative Research Fellowship. The Government of Meghalaya has collaborated with the Indian School of Business (ISB) to advance its efforts for research-driven policy formulation and implementation in the state of Meghalaya.
Objectives of the Fellowship
- Empower the Meghalaya State Legislative Assembly through a structured fellowship programme.
- Facilitate support for research and data analysis for the honorable members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
- Enabling research and evidence-based policy insights to be available for the legislators.
- Support legislators directly in several items of legislative business, like the Questions, Adjournment Motions, Calling Attention Notices, including Private Member Bills.
Essential Qualifications
- Indian citizen and a domicile of Meghalaya state (relaxed for data fellows)
- Masters in Social sciences, Humanities, Public Policy, Statistics, Data Analytics & Geoinformation, Natural Sciences and other interdisciplinary degrees with relevant social sector experience.
- Candidates with Master’s/PhD degree and well-rounded knowledge of Meghalaya society, culture and history will be preferred.
- Strongly desired candidates possessing good command of vernacular languages of Meghalaya.
Roles and Responsibilities
- The role calls for organizational skills and requires working in close coordination with selected legislators of the Meghalaya State Legislative Assembly and agencies of the Government of Meghalaya. The roles and responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Produce background notes, issue briefs, information bulletins, fact sheets, weekly digests, etc. on legislative, procedural and other immediate or anticipated issues of interest.
- Disseminate information on selected subjects to legislative constituencies in the State.
- Use sophisticated research methods to produce evidence-based policy insights on issues of importance and urgency.
- Support legislators directly in several items of legislative business like the Questions, Adjournment Motions, Calling Attention Notice, etc. to be initiated by legislators including private member bills
- Support legislative committees and their respective proceedings through documentation, research and outreach support.

12 Legislative Fellows & 2 Data Fellows based in shillong and Meghalaya
Fellowship Period
The fellows of Meghalaya Legislative Research Fellowship will be selected for a minimum of one year which can extend for another year based on performance.
Pay & Allowance
A monthly salary of Rs. 50,000/- per month plus House Rent Allowance & Mobile Allowance additionally as maybe admissible from time to time.
