Office– Member of Parliament, Dakshina Kannada
Internship Duration– 2 to 4 months (based on performance)
Weekly Time Commitment– 12 to 14 hours, including regular in-office visits during the session
Role Overview
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of parliamentary research and legislative support. Selected interns will assist the MP in preparing for the upcoming parliamentary sessions by conducting in-depth research on policies, legislative debates, committee work, and speeches.
Responsibilities
- Parliamentary Research: Analyze ongoing and upcoming bills, parliamentary debates, and questions that align with the MP’s areas of interest.
- Policy Briefs: Prepare summaries and analyses on key policy issues, focusing on topics pertinent to Dakshina Kannada and national interests.
- Speech Preparation: Assist in drafting and organizing content for speeches, ensuring accurate data and alignment with constituency needs.
- Standing Committee Support: Provide concise reports on relevant standing committee discussions and recommendations, highlighting areas requiring attention.
- Issue-based Research: Conduct issue-based analysis for both national and regional concerns, including updates on relevant legislation and recent policy shifts.
Eligibility
Those with a background and good understanding of public policy, current affairs, research and writing are preferred.
Skills
- Strong research, analytical, and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with parliamentary proceedings and policy frameworks (preferred).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
