Ashiyana is in search of a candidate to join its family as a Social Worker. Social Workers build intentional relationships with youth, engage them in a variety of programming, support them in the process of behaviour change and enable a smooth transition from institution to society, making them self-reliant, responsible and contributing citizens. The Social Worker will be directly reporting to the Program Manager.

About Ashiyana

Ashiyana works with at-risk youth in Mumbai between the ages 12-25 years who are either Children in Conflict with the Law (CCL) or Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP) as per the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015. These are children and young people who have mostly dropped out of school, lived on the streets, are addicted, have been apprehended, and face multiple traumas and challenges.

Key Responsibilities

● Every social worker will have a cohort of 25 youth and will ensure that each child is driven to
outcomes of emotional independence, self-reliance, and living out of harm’s way.
● Facilitate individual and group sessions as per the designed program with sensitivity to the program’s intention and group needs.
● Collect data, create reports and document the journeys of young people.
● Build partnerships and collaboration to help meet young people’s educational needs, vocational
training and job requirements.
● Closely work with all stakeholders – Staff of the institution like probation officers, housemasters,
guards, superintendent, family members, employers and community of the youth.
● Conduct home visits and submit timely reports to respective stakeholders.
● Cater to the needs of youth as well as the organization by being part of Ashiyana’s other initiatives as and when expected.

● Has good problem-solving, decision making and conflict-resolution skills.
● Enjoys challenging and volatile situations and is able to find creative ways to deal with complex
problems.
● Is comfortable working with youth individually as well as in groups.
● Is reflective, a good listener and exhibits a strong willingness to learn.
● Is a great team player, resourceful and works with a sense of possibility.
● Is willing and has the ability to work outside of normal business hours and holidays and/or weekends as needed.
● Is willing and keen to develop an awareness of one’s own emotional, spiritual and intellectual learning process.

Qualification and Experience

● Applicant shall have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children.
● A Master’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent to that.
● Proficiency in Hindi, English, and Marathi (optional).
● Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, etc.).

Remuneration

CTC is Rs. 3 lac – 4.8 lac per annum, depending on the candidate’s experience and skill sets.
